Is it time to put something big on your calendar for yourself, for an experience that will lead to new connections and most definitely will give you a sense of accomplishment? Welcome to Women Walking for a Cause! My hope is to build a community of courageous, strong, and determined women who enjoy challenging themselves in a unique group experience.

Join us for a 15-mile walk on April 23, starting at the Duke Faculty Club. We’ll kick off the walk at 9AM and begin by coursing around the 3.8-mile Al Buehler trail. Next, we’ll enter Duke’s campus by the sports fields, travel through the quad to the Chapel, and then walk down Campus Drive to Duke East campus. There we’ll walk the 1.7-mile loop and return to our starting point. After the miles are completed, we’ll enjoy a post-walk celebration with food and drinks.

The beneficiary of this walk is the V Foundation for Cancer Research. We all have likely been impacted directly or via a loved one with a cancer diagnosis. I experienced the improvements in treatment protocols firsthand during my own two breast cancer treatments in 2003 and again in 2021.

The minimum fundraising goal is $250 per walker and all this money goes directly to the V Foundation, who then gives 100% of its donations to fund cancer research grants. You will have the option to fundraise the $250 entrance fee and/or exceed that amount by sharing your own registration link with others.

This is not my event, it is ours: I’m inviting my friends and I hope you’ll invite yours. Think of those who might enjoy being part of a community of women, pushing themselves in the process, and raising money for cancer research.  Help me support the bright and fearless researchers who are dedicating their careers to fighting cancer.

Thanks, Kristen.
