Community.  Challenge.   Make a Difference in the Fight against Cancer.

Welcome to Women Walking for a Cause! My hope is to build a community of courageous, strong, and determined women who enjoy challenging themselves in a unique group experience.

Join us for a 15-mile walk on Sunday, April 14, 2024 around Duke’s beautiful campus. We’ll start the walk at 9AM and begin by coursing around the 3.8-mile Al Buehler trail. Next, we’ll enter Duke’s campus, travel through the quad to the Chapel, and then walk down Campus Drive to Duke East campus. There we’ll walk the 1.7-mile loop and return to our starting point. There are multiple options to complete a shorter portion of the walk (4, 7, or 11 miles). After the miles are completed, we’ll enjoy a post-walk celebration with food and drinks.

The beneficiary of this walk is the V Foundation for Cancer Research. We all have likely been impacted directly or via a loved one with a cancer diagnosis. I experienced the improvements in treatment protocols firsthand during my own two breast cancer treatments in 2003 and again in 2021.

The fundraising goal is $250 per walker and all this money goes directly to the V Foundation, where 100% of direct donations fund cancer research grants. You will have the option to fundraise the $250 entrance fee and/or exceed that amount by sharing your own fundraising page with others.  The 1st annual Women Walking for a Cause raised over $5,000 for the V Foundation!

This is not my event, it is ours: I’m inviting my friends and I hope you’ll invite yours.
